Health eFX

Health eFX founder, Gary Cools, is a native of Michigan, living the last thirty years or so in the semi-rural northern part of Michigan's lower peninsula.

His life as an alternative health services provider began with Clinical (or "Medical") Massage in the mid-1990's.  He opened his private practice in Pere Marquette Township outside Ludington, Michigan in 1998.

Gary began teaching Medical Massage for the school where he had studied, and worked with them for several years.  In the meanwhile, he continued his own studies both in advanced Medical Massage and as an herbalist.  He earned his Master Herbalist certificate in 1999.  Further studies allowed Gary to receive a PhD in Naturopathy from Trinity College  and University in 2000.

Recognizing a need in the community, Gary branched out a bit and studied to acquire his certificate as an Acupuncture Detox Specialist from "Modern Acupuncture" in 2001.  The results of auricular acupuncture treatment are so dramatic, it inspired him to continue his studies in acupuncture.

He entered the International College of Alternative Medicine where, in 2003, he completed a PhD program in full-body acupuncture.  The year-long program of study in Michigan and Canada was concluded with an intensive one-month internship at Katubowila Government Teaching Hospital in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The objective was to train daily at the hospital under a physician's supervision and guidance treating 7 patients an hour with acupuncture to positively affect conditions like high blood pressure, arthritis, insomnia, headaches, localized pain, goiter, bone mass, hearing loss, atonic bowel, and much more.  The international setting of the internship allowed graduates and accomplished acupuncturists the opportunity to share ideas and successes as well as build remarkable worldwide professional networks.

Presently, Gary's studies continue in acupuncture and homeopathy.  Working with several doctors associated with the Seroyal Company in Canada, Gary is learning advanced acupuncture techniques as well as studying the application of the full line of Unda Homeopathic Remedies.

But studying hasn't been the whole picture for Gary.  In addition to opening the Health eFX clinic in 1998, he created Health eFX Herbals in 1999.  In 2001, he was pleased to accept an invitation to serve on staff with the Evergreen Center for Integrative Health in Suttons Bay, Michigan.  Traditional medical providers work together with "alternative" providers, offering their patients a creative and well-balanced approach to healthcare.

In the summer of 2002, after an initial introduction made by one of his clients, Gary joined the staff of the Institute for Alternative Medicine in Howard City, Michigan.  He served for three years as a board member and the developer, director, and chief instructor of their Medical Massage program.

Gary added another healthcare office to his schedule in 2006, joining the staff at Fruitport Chiropractic.  Top-quality chiropractic care combines with innovative herbal and homeopathic support as well as massage, acupuncture, and other complementary health services.

In May of 2009, Gary and the staff at Health eFX trained in Fort Myers, Florida to become Certified Thermographic Technicians.  Gary added Digital Thermography services to the clinic's offerings later that month, to form the region's most complete and scientifically-based clinic for alternative health care.

Gary and his wife Judy make their home just outside Ludington, Michigan.
